Key Dates and Deadlines
- 19 of Each Month - It’s the final day for filling the contractors monthly return (CIS 300)
- 6 April – The Self Assessment Return Form for the tax year which has just ended is sent out by HMRC
- 31 May – The deadline for receiving form P60 showing your previous year’s earnings from your employer. This is latest date you can get this
- 5 July – The deadline for Tax Credits applications back-dated to the start of the tax year. This is a use-it or loses-it benefits – you cannot go back further than 3 months.
- 31 July - The final date for sending in the second Interim instalment of tax due for the tax year which ended in the preceding April. This only applies to some who file self assessment returns, usually the self employed.
- 30 September – The filing deadline if you want the HMRC to calculate your Tax Due under self employment.
- 31 January – The Big Date!!! It’s the final day for filling the Self Assessment Tax Return as well as the date for the first Interim instalment on the current tax year
- 1 March - The Automatic surcharge starts for these who failed to comply with the January 31 Deadline.
- 5 April – End of the Tax Year
New forms are sent out again on 6 April and the whole cycle starts all over again.
